Unlock Your Child's Creative Side By Taking Part In Barbie's Design & Dress Studio Workshop
Big in the fashion world, Barbie®, standing
just under the 12 inches mark, continues to inspire young fashionistas all over
the world with her latest dress designs and accessories and of course, her
latest fashion trends. Serving as an inspiration to some of the world’s most
renowned fashion designers, Barbie® has elevated to fashion icon
status for girls and women across the globe.
With an eye for fantastic fashion and the latest fashion
trends, Barbie® stays ahead of the fashion world; always delivering
a never-ending series of outfits for young fashionistas all over Malaysia to
explore.
In her commitment to continue inspiring young
fashionistas, Barbie® is teaming up with Da Vinci Creative Kids, a
children’s arts and crafts school founded by The One Academy. The One Academy
is one of Asia ’s most respected tertiary level
institutions in creative education. Together, Barbie and Da Vinci Creative Kids
will organize a ‘Barbie® Dress & Design Studio’ Workshop which
will be held at 20 different locations from May 5 till end of September this
year.
The Barbie® Design & Dress Studio
workshops will see over 300 children from Klang Valley and Penang take part in
the fun and creative workshop, nurturing their unique artistic ability in
creating fabulous and fashionable Barbie® dresses.
Open to children aged between 6 and 12 years old, the
workshop aims to fuel the child’s imagination and creativity in designing. To participate
in the workshop, aspiring ‘young designers’ are to call and register themselves
at participating Da Vinci centres at least 5 days before the scheduled workshop
date and the children are to ensure that they bring along their own Barbie®
Design & Dress Studio doll set.
The Barbie® Design & Dress Studio doll set,
retailing at RM99.90 and can be found at major toy and department stores
nationwide; comes with 5 real fabric dresses, 3 design markers in pink, black
and purple; 2 design stencils as well as beautiful stickers; all of which can
be used by the young participants to create their very own fashion dresses.
Once they have completed the dress designs, they can tear along the perforated
lines and ‘wrap’ their designs around their Barbie® doll, (which of
course, comes with the Studio set) clinging on to the doll like a real dress.
“When children play with fashion, they accessorize their
imagination. No one has more accessories and fashion items than Barbie®
and her endless closet allows children to play with fashion and dress up their
dreams. With the Barbie® Design & Dress Studio workshop, we are
hoping to fuel their imagination to becoming a world famous fashion designer.
Playing dress up is more than just putting on a new outfit in Barbie®’s
world. It is an opportunity to explore a new story, a new fantasy and perhaps a new “career”. Through
workshops such as this, we aim to cultivate kids’ imagination and creativity in
the world of fashion,” shared Ms Kelly Yip, Brand Manager for GIRLS, Mattel
Southeast Asia Pte Ltd.
Commenting on the partnership between the Barbie®
and Da Vinci Creative Kids, Ms Jane Wong, Business Development Manager, said “We
are delighted to have been able to partner up with Barbie® to carry
out these workshops. We believe in stimulating the mind at a young age with
programmes that not only aim at growing their self-esteems, but also provide
effective learning approaches, problem solving skills and creative agility. At
Da Vinci Creative Arts Centres, we aim to nurture and produce innovative
leaders of tomorrow.”
For those interested to participate in the two-hour fun,
creative workshop entitled the ‘Barbie® Design & Dress Studio’
workshop, they are to call and register themselves at selected Da Vinci centres
all over the nation, which are listed on the official Da Vinci Creative Kids
website, http://www.dvckid.com/html/updates.html#barbie2012. Each workshop will be held on a
particular date therefore it is advisable for interested participants to ensure

Vinci Creative Kids students are entitled to a special 30% discount off the
